On Monday, June 18, 2018, the second annual Best of StarNewsVarsity event took place at the Wilmington Convention Center. Parkway of Wilmington, the auto group that includes Parkway Subaru, was proud to cosponsor the StarNewsVarsity event.
Now in its second year, the Best of StarNewsVarsity event honored the accomplishments of the 2017-2018 All-Area high school student athletes from Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties in 21 sports. During the awards ceremony, awards were presented to the Outstanding Player of the Year for each sport. Other awards included Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, and Coach of the Year.
Special Appearance by Christian McCaffrey
In addition to the banquet dinner and awards ceremony, attendees and honorees also delighted in a presentation by special guest speaker and Carolina Panthers running back, Christian McCaffrey. His appearance included a question and answer session and was sponsored by Parkway of Wilmington.
